Engineering and Design
RIVHAB specializes in providing comprehensive environmental engineering and construction services, focusing on stream and floodplain restoration, water resources management, and habitat enhancement. Our team offers expertise in hydraulic and fisheries design, floodplain management, civil engineering, and UAV/drone services, ensuring effective solutions for habitat assessments, hydrological functioning, and post-construction monitoring. With a strong emphasis on environmental compliance, we deliver high-quality services, including permitting assistance, erosion control, and heavy equipment operation, while collaborating closely with stakeholders to achieve sustainable, successful project outcomes.

Silver Creek Watershed Restoration
Silver Creek watershed restoration progresses with habitat improvements on Chaney Creek. This effort focused on narrowing over-widened channel segments and removing excessive fine sediments that negatively affect water quality, temperatures and dissolved oxygen levels.
To address the lack of habitat complexity in Chaney Creek, we created instream structures and complex pools, improved stream velocities, restored sediment transport processes and created wetlands to filter drainage from adjacent farm fields.
By dredging the sediment overburden, we’ve significantly lowered water temperatures feeding the historic Silver Creek Preserve, benefiting the entire Silver Creek watershed and its fisheries.
Wetland Construction, Restored Stream Processes and Improved Fish Habitat
This project addressed restoring a spring creek that had been mechanically widened in the 1940s for farming practices. In this Design/Build project, RIVHAB identified appropriate restoration target conditions to successfully create pockets for rearing thousands of juvenile fish as well as active spawning grounds. This project also resulted in reduced water temperatures, improved dissolved oxygen, removed legacy silts and sediment, and eliminated nuisance aquatic vegetation to create a cool-water fishing oasis and wetlands.
