Design-Build Project Approach
A design-build (DB) approach can often expedite deliverables, reduce costs and risks to Owner, and allow for flexibility in constructing design elements.
In this approach, the Engineer and Contractor are the same team contracted to complete the project, which often reduces the need for change orders and allows flexibility for field-fitting design elements based on real-time construction conditions.
This approach allows an expedited schedule with a reputable team to deliver project goals and objectives.
Additionally, as a design-build, material procurement and mobilization can begin following issuance of permits, providing a more streamlined delivery over a traditional design-bid-build process.

Expedited Schedule
As a result of not needing to competitively bid the project, Design-Build projects are often completed with more streamlined engineering resulting in time savings over traditional Design-Bid-Build projects.

The Design-Build delivery method often results in significant cost savings for the owner. These cost savings are the result of bid-ready design drawings not being required, in addition to saving money on Services during Bidding (SDB) and Services during Construction (SDC).

Design-build projects have a single contract and a single point of contact who will serve in the best interest of the Owner. RIVHAB is also happy to work with owners to provide flexibility and creative solutions for those who have an interest in supporting the implementation of the project.

Decreased Risk to Owner
Design/Build reduces the risk to the Owner because the Design team is the Construction team. There is no conflict between designers and contractors that would involve the owner as in Design-Bid-Build. The designers and contractors are the same team.
